Continuing his monster year, in July 2026, Trayner entered Day 8 of the 2026 WSOP Main Event as the chip leader with 21 players left.
With $325,000 already locked up, plus the experience of winning the Aussie Millions Main Event and an earlier bracelet to fall back on, Trayner enters Day 8 as the odds-on favorite to claim the $10,000,000 first place prize and poker's most coveted title.
Malcolm Trayner's Poker History
Trayner began his poker career grinding low-stakes tournaments in his native Australia in 2018. His second recorded cash, according to The Hendon Mob Database, was a runner-up finish in the A$550 WSOP International Circuit opening event in November 2018 worth A$69,528 ($50,361).
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Trayner finished sixth in a $500 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack event held online at GGPoker.
Trayner continued playing low- to mid-stakes tournaments in Australia once his country's lockdown restrictions were lifted. With a larger bankroll and growing confidence, Traynor began moving up stakes, and his success continued, with several five-figure scores.
At the 2024 WSOP, Trayner outlasted 18,408 opponents in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions, winning his first WSOP gold bracelet and a massive $1 million top prize.
Trayner Dominates 2026 With Aussie Millions Win, WSOP Main Event Deep Run
Following his breakthrough in Las Vegas, Trayner cemented his place among Australia's poker stars by capturing the 2026 Aussie Millions Main Event, the first edition of the prestigious festival after its six-year hiatus.
Trayer navigated a record-setting field of 770 entrants to claim the title, agreeing to a three-way ICM deal before going on to win the trophy and ring outright. The victory earned him a career-best payday of A$1,382,198 and marked another defining moment in his rapid rise through the poker ranks.
In an exclusive interview with PokerNews' Managing Editor Will Shillibier in May 2026, Trayner mentioned he was "keen for Vegas". Vegas has certainly be good to him as well, and with a deep run in the 2026 WSOP Main Event, Trayner could very well emerge as poker's next World Champion when the final cards are dealt on August 5th.
