Anthony Marquez Chases Second Bracelet in $1,500 The Closer
Welcome to Day 2 of Event #93: $1,500 The Closer No-Limit Hold'em.
A field of 2,646 has been pared down to a hefty 421 players – more than a hundred above the number that returned for Day 2 a year ago. They will return to the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas on a quest for one of the final gold bracelets to be awarded at the 2026 World Series of Poker.
Anthony Marquez, who hopes to add the priceless bit of hardware to the one he won in the $1,500 six-handed event in 2017, is one of two bracelet winners among the top 10 chip leaders.

David Yue, who bagged a whopping 2,640,000 chips on Day 1a to grab the overall lead, has a circuit win on his resume. He has been doing damage there over the last three years and is primed to make his mark with a deep run at the series.
According to The Hendon Mob, Yue's first tournament cash was in 2023, with his first at the series in 2024. He posted an impressive 13 cashes last year, ranking 41st among all participants.
Three-time bracelet winner Nick Guagenti (1,400,000) sits fifth in chips, and there are a host of notables lurking just outside the top 10, with more than 1,000,000 chips. That group includes Brent Gregory, who took down an absolutely loaded final table to win a mixed NLH/PLO event and his first bracelet last month, Andrew Kelsall, four-time bracelet winner David Baker, and Alen Bakovic, who won a bracelet two years ago.
The tournament resumes at noon local time, with blinds starting at 10,000/20,000 and a 20,000 big blind ante. It stands to be an exciting day, with the event scheduled to play until a winner is determined. The unofficial prize pool is $4,526,376, with the full payout announcement to come.
