World Champ Chris Moneymaker Busts on Bubble in the 2026 WSOP Main Event

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

The 1,383rd-place finisher in the 2026 WSOP Main Event was eliminated, sending the remaining players into a loud celebration, and it just so happened to involve a past champion — Chris Moneymaker, along with two others.

Why were they cheering so hard for Moneymaker, the 2003 World Champion, and two others to bust? It wasn't anything personal against him, but his elimination meant the remaining players were all guaranteed to go home with a profit in the $10,000 buy-in tournament.

Day 3 ended with 1,389 players remaining, leaving just seven players to be eliminated before the bubble burst. Short stacks tightened up during the opening moments of play on Thursday, desperately trying to hold on at least until reaching the money. A min-cash is worth $15,000.

Arani's Double Barrel Earns Him the Pot

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Mamad Arani raised to 18,000 from early position, and Jonathan Wang was the only player to come along from the small blind.

The dealer fanned the 26K flop, and Wang checked to Arani, who fired 14,000. Wang continued with a call.

The A turn brought another check from Wang, and Arani followed up with a second barrel of 35,000, which was enough to force a fold.

Mechetner Latest to Fall

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Omri Mechetner moved all in for 116,000 from early position, and only the button player, Robertson Yap, called, putting Mechetner at risk.

Omri Mechetner: KJ All in
Robertson Yap: AJ

The 92Q flop offered Mechetner some extra outs, but it wasn't to be, as the 4 turn and 3 river completed the board.

Jacobs Ends Fujita's Run

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Haruna Fujita moved all in for her last 64,000 from the hijack and Terrence Jacobs raised to about 300,000 on the button. Everyone else folded and a showdown was held.

Haruna Fujita: J10All in
Terrence Jacobs: QQ

The 979 flop gave Fujita a bit of hope with a gutshot, but the Q turn left her drawing dead against Jacobs' full house.

An irrelevant A completed the board and Fujita was eliminated.

De Souza Snaps Off Palmer With Queens

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Belarmino De Souza raised to 16,000 in early position, Josh Palmer moved all in for 110,000 in the big blind, and De Souza snap-called.

Josh Palmer: AJ All in
Belarmino De Souza: QQ

Palmer was looking for an ace to survive, but he couldn't connect with the 37462 board and quickly left the table before the dealer could confirm his payout. The table tried to call him back, but Palmer had already left the room and couldn't be found.

Colter's Walking Sticks Good at Showdown

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Felipe Olivieri raised to 16,000 from middle position, with John Colter calling in the hijack and Alex Livingston coming along from the big blind.

Livingston checked the 2KK flop, and Olivieri fired a continuation-bet of 12,000. Colter called, while Livingston got out of the way.

Both players checked the J turn and 8 river. Colter tabled 77 for a pair of sevens, which was enough to win the pot.

Roman Rogovskyi limped from under the gun and Daniel Shasho then jammed for 58,000 in late position. John Monnette flat-called and Rogovskyi folded.

Daniel Shasho: A9 All in
John Monnette: KK

The K33 flop left Shasho on very thin ice needing running aces to survive. It was all over on the Q turn to make the 4 river a formality.

Ruben Folds Full House

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Brad Ruben raised to 16,000 under the gun. Dutch Boyd three-bet to 40,000 in early position, which Ruben called after it had folded back to him.

Boyd continued for 30,000 on the J7J flop. Ruben check-called to the 7 turn, where both players checked. The J river saw Ruben check for a third time.

Boyd re-engaged with a bet of 70,000, quickly taking down the pot as Ruben mucked.

Melnyk Drills the River to Bust Matues

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Adam Matues
Adam Matues

Liubomyr Melnyk raised to 16,000 under the gun before Sam Snead three-bet to 42,000 in early position. Adam Matues then moved all in for 343,000 in middle position, and Melnyk reshoved for 556,000. Snead had both opponents covered and tanked for a minute, but he eventually laid his hand down and said he had two tens.

Adam Matues: AK All in
Liubomyr Melnyk: QQ

It was a classic flip, and Matues took the lead on the A92 flop with top pair. The 8 turn left him poised for the double up, but Melnyk spiked the Q on the river to make a set and send Matues to the rail.

Post Bubble Bonanza Underway

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Patrice Brandt three-bet to 38,000 and Atanas Kodinov called to then see a flop of A109. Kodinov checked for Brandt to bet 23,000 and the shove by Kodinov ended the hand right there.

One table over, Kevin Maahs doubled for the last 60,000 with A10 versus QJ on a board of K5266.
