2026 World Series of Poker
Action picked up on the river in a hand between Mark Lacoste in the small blind and Samy Dubonnet from early position, but the action was recounted to PokerNews by the table.
Dubonnet had opened second-to-act and Lacoste flatted in the small blind.
On the Q♠10♠3♣ flop, Lacoste led out with a bet and Dubonnet called.
Lacoste led again on the 5♠ turn and Dubonnet called once more.
There was 455,000 in the middle as the two saw the 2♦ river. This time, Lacoste checked it over to Dubonnet who bet 375,000. Lacoste responded with a check-jam for 1,175,000 effective as the covering stack, sending Dubonnet deep into the tank.
Several minutes would pass before Dubonnet conceded the pot. As the pot was pushed towards Lacoste, he kept a straight face as he tossed Q♣J♠ into the middle, turning his pair of queens with a spade blocker into a bluff.
The table fell silent as they witnessed one of the largest pots of the tournament as Lacoste's fearlessness was rewarded.
Yannick Schumacher moved all in for his last 120,000 from the small blind and Gregor Sverko put him at risk in the cutoff.
Yannick Schumacher: Q♦J♦
Gregor Sverko: A♦K♦
An uproar arose from the table after the 9♦4♦5♦ flop gave both players a flush. Sverko had hit the nut flush, and Schumacher was already drawing dead after the 2♣ turn. The river was the Q♠ and Schumacher was sent to the rail.
Alex Foxen raised to 30,000 under the gun. It folded to Wesley Fei in the big blind, who called. Fei put on his sunglasses before he led out for 30,000 on the 9♣8♣6♦ flop.
Foxen called and did so again when Fei sized up to 45,000 on the 7♣ turn. Fei then slowed on the 4♥ turn with a check. Foxen aggressed with a bet of 180,000, and Fei folded to concede the pot.
Heads-up on a completed board of K♣9♣5♣2♣5♥, Martin Zamani bet 30,000 from the big blind and Shreesh Hebbar raised from the hijack to put Zamani all in for his last 125,000.
Zamani went deep into the tank and let out a few giggles before deciding to fold.
"Please show me a bluff. Please!" Zamani pleaded to Hebbar, who began to move his cards toward the muck.
"I will pay you $100 right now to see!"
Hebbar paused and then showed A♣10♠ for the nuts after Zamani pulled out a Benjamin.
"Thank you! I had the jack of clubs," Zamani said.
A player at Table #217 had his camera crew filming the table as Allan Sannier raised to 30,000 in early position. "They're live-streaming this table on The Ocho," Alex James joked.
Asi Moshe then three-bet to 100,000 in middle position, and Tianle Wang four-bet to 205,000 on the button. Only Moshe called.
The flop came 9♦J♦6♣ and Wang continued for 145,000. Moshe quickly folded, and Wang took down the pot.
Chris Hunichen opened to 30,000 from under the gun and Adom Issahakian moved all in for 100,000. Hunichen called, and the players flipped their cards.
Adom Issahakian: 2♥2♠
Chris Hunichen: J♥9♥
Issahakian flopped well on the 8♥2♦A♦ board, picking up a set of dueces. There was a small sweat of the backdoor heart straight draw for Hunichen but the 4♣ turn and 3♣ river didn't change the standings.
Gregory Brown raised to 35,000 from the hijack, with Will Givens calling on the button and Scott Lazar defending from the big blind.
The action checked to Givens on the 4♥4♣J♦ flop, and he fired 40,000. Lazar called, while Brown got out of the way.
Both players checked the 8♠ turn. After the 8♦ completed the board, Lazar checked once more, and Givens bet around 75,000. Lazar quickly called, but mucked after Givens tabled Q♥J♥ for a pair of queens.
Picking up the action on the K♣6♣10♥Q♠ turn, James Sullivan bet 85,000 from the big blind. Michael Banducci then raised to 225,000 in middle position, and Sullivan called.
Sullivan checked the J♠ river, and Banducci sized down to 100,000. Sullivan spent some minutes in the tank before he called.
Banducci tabled Q♥9♦ for the lower end of the straight. Sullivan could not beat it and flung his cards into the muck in defeat.
In a battle of the blinds to the A♠9♦4♥10♥Q♣ river with around 160,000 in the middle, Ben Ramon bet 500,000. Thomas Cannuli was deep in the tank and ultimately called for the 360,000 he had behind. Ramon tabled his K♣4♣ and Cannuli doubled with A♣7♠.
One table over, Gregory Goldberg raised the button to 30,000. Chris Hunichen three-bet to 120,000 and Karanvir Singh four-bet jammed for more than 1,100,000. Goldberg quickly folded while Hunichen was taken aback. "That's a big jam," Hunichen said before he folded.
Singh looked at the live reporting team and said, "ace-king."
