Ensan Spikes the River to Leap Over Hammoud

Level 36 : Blinds 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante
Hossein Ensan
Hossein Ensan

Hossein Ensan raised to 1,600,000 in the hijack, and Rami Hammoud called in the small blind, as did Greg Mueller in the big blind.

All three players checked to the turn on a board of KJ94. Ensan then bet 1,500,000, and Hammoud raised to 6,000,000. Mueller folded 97, while Ensan called.

The river was the 4, and Hammoud bet 8,500,000. Ensan snap-called with A3 for a rivered flush, and Hammoud mucked KJ for a no-good top two pair. Ensan overtook Hammoud for the chip lead with that pot.

No Flops After the Break

Level 36 : Blinds 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

In the first hand back from the break, Michael Gagliano QQ raised to 1,700,000 and stole the blinds as well as the big blind ante.

Shaun Deeb 66 then raised from the small blind for 15,700,000 with very few chips behind and got it through.

Daniel Savas A7 raised to 1,600,000 from the hijack and found no resistance.

Savas made it two in a row with another raise to 1,600,000, holding QQ. That wrapped up another preflop contest.

Hossein Ensan 54 raised to 1,600,000 thereafter from the button into the big blind of Romain Lewis AK, who pushed all in and forced a snap-fold.

As football's most legendary coach, Vince Lombardi, once said, "Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing."

Forget the bad beats, one-outers, and misclicks—at the World Series of Poker, success is measured in green (and gold). From its inception in 1970 to the record-breaking 2024 edition, the series has seen some of poker's most unforgettable victories and created hundreds of millionaires.

Thanks to the poker boom (among other factors), it’s no shock that all of the WSOP’s biggest payouts have come in the last 25 years. The Main Event fields have exploded, and the rise of high-stakes tournaments has sent prize pools soaring to new heights.

In the last hand before the break on the main table, Rami Hammoud raised to 1,200,000. Savas called in the small blind, and Thomas Clack came along in the big blind. They headed to the KK3 flop that both blinds checked to Hammoud. He bet 800,000 and Savas folded, whereas Clack stuck around to see the 2 on the turn.

Clack checked once more and so did Hammoud, leading to the 4 river. Once again they checked, and Clack showed the A9, but was beaten by the 42 of Hammoud.
