Two Brutal Set-Over-Set Coolers Send High-Stakes Pros Out of WSOP Main Event

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Sandvik & Tsai
Sandvik & Tsai

If one set-over-set cooler wasn't painful enough, the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event produced two within moments of each other on different tables. Both were every bit as brutal as the bad beat that kicked off Day 6.

High-stakes pros Espen Sandvik and Andy "Andy Stacks" Tsai both saw deep runs come to heartbreaking ends on Day 6 after flopping or turning sets, only to discover their opponents held even bigger ones.

Tsai is best known for battling in some of the biggest cash games in the world, while Sandvik is no stranger to the high roller circuit either, with numerous cashes in $25,000 buy-in events. Neither could survive one of poker's nastiest coolers.

Vaitiekunas Snap-Calls Kenney

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Bryn Kenney raised to 850,000 from the small blind and Paulius Vaitiekunas called out of the big to see a flop of 1069.

Action went check-check, as it did on the J turn.

When the A completed the board on the river, Kenney burned through a time extension before announcing a bet of 2,100,000. Vaitiekunas snap-called and Kenney sent his cards to the muck unseen. That meant Vaitiekunas didn't need to show his cards, which he silently slid face down to the dealer.

Dwan Shows the Bluff

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Jamie Dwan
Jamie Dwan

Timur Margolin opened from under the gun, and Jamie Dwan called from the button.

Margolin continued for 450,000 on the K54 flop, and Dwan made the call.

The 2 fell on the turn, and Margolin checked. Dwan fired 1,600,000, and Margolin called.

Margolin checked again on the J river, and Dwan moved all in for around 4,200,000. The shove was enough to force Margolin to fold.

With his rail having just arrived during the hand, Dwan proudly turned over 76 to show the successful bluff.

River Pair Does the Job

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Daniel Rezaei raised to 500,000 from middle position and picked up two callers.

All three players checked the 932 flop and the 4 turn.

The 6 completed the board, and Paulius Vaitiekunas bet 750,000 from the small blind. Jamie Dwan folded from the big blind, while Rezaei made the call.

Vaitiekunas tabled KJ for king-high, but Rezaei showed A6 for a pair of sixes, which was enough to take down the pot.

Rezaei and Margolin Play a Big Pot

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Daniel Rezaei raised to 500,000 on the button only to have Timur Margolin three-bet to 1,700,000 out of the small blind. Bryn Kenney folded from the big and Rezaei called to see a flop of 964.

Margolin continued for 1,900,000 and Rezaei stuck around to see the J turn, which both players checked.

When the 10 completed the board on the river, Margolin burned through a time extension before checking and Rezaei thought for a bit himself before betting 1,800,000. Margolin hit the tank and burned through a couple of time extensions before calling, only to muck when Rezaei rolled over the 109 for two pair.

Margolin Gets Paid By Vaitiekunas

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Paulius Vaitiekunas opened for 500,000 and Timur Margolin defended his big blind to see a flop of 347.

Margolin led out for 450,000 and was called by Vaitiekunas, which brought about the 5 turn.

Margolin bet again, this time just 350,000, and Vaitiekunas called to see the 7 river.

Margolin upped his bet to 650,000 and got paid off by Vaitiekunas, who mucked when the former tabled the Q6 for a turned straight that had turned into a rivered flush.

Daniel Smiljkovic Eliminated in 7th Place ($226,086)

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Daniel Smiljkovic
Daniel Smiljkovic

Daniel Smiljkovic opened from under the gun to 500,000 before action folded to Paulius Vaitiekunas in the small blind, who three-bet to 1,600,000. Smiljkovic then moved all in for around 6,450,000, and Vaitiekunas quickly made the call.

Daniel Smiljkovic: A4All in
Paulius Vaitiekunas: AK

Smiljkovic picked up additional outs on the 7JJ flop with a club flush draw, but neither the 10 turn nor the 2 river improved his hand. Vaitiekunas' ace-king held up, sending Smiljkovic to the rail.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 8th Place ($226,086)

Level 24 : Blinds 100,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu min-raised to 500,000 under the gun and action folded around to the United Kingdom's Jamie Dwan, who moved all in from the small blind.

Negreanu grabbed his camera to document the action for his daily vlogs, which was a clear indicator he was about to call off the 2,200,000 he had behind. Indeed, that's just what he did and it was off to the races.

Daniel Negreanu: AK All in
Jamie Dwan: 99

It was a flip and Negreanu was looking to improve to stay alive. The QJ4 flop gave him a Broadway straight draw to a ten, but both the 5 turn and 3 river bricked for the eight-time bracelet winner to send him out the door in eighth place.

"Enough points to lock it in for sure," Bryn Kenney offered. He was referring to Team DNegs in the 25K Fantasy. They currently sit on top, and with both Negreanu and Kenney cashing this tournament, they'll extend that lead to a potentially uncatchable margin.

Jamie Dwan
